Raymond Poggioli was born on March 26^th, 1927, in Brooklyn New York. He was the son of Arthur Poggioli and Louise (Barbieri) Poggioli. Before entering the service Raymond was employed by the Riverhead Laundry in Riverhead, New York

He was inducted into the Army at Patchogue, Long Island. At the time of his induction he was living in Middle Island, New York
