Robert Stevens Brewster was b. May 10, 1989 in Brooklyn, NY and died July 23, 1977 in Francisco. Robert was the son of George Elbert Delmane Brewster and Mary Ellen Stevens of Maine. The family was involved in maritime and Robert's grandfather was Charles Hudson Brewster and referred to on his tombstone as "Captain." The family was well-to-do having and at some point in the early 1900s, Robert and his sister Rozella, along with Rozella's husband Louis Kammerer and grandmother Rosilla Hawkins Brewster lived in what is now the Historic Hewlett-Hawkins House at Yaphank. Rosilla Hawkins Brewster was the widow of Charles Hudson Brewster. It appears they also maintained a house in Brooklyn.  He married Lucile Brown (daughter of Fred Brown, her mother died in childbirth) who was b. around 1898 in Maine and she passed away October 1980 in Sacramento. He must have met Lucile when he was still living in New York and they moved to San Francisco where they had three children. Robert worked as an engineer for many many years at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. Robert and Lucile had children Robert Stevens Brewster b. in NY in 1921 who served more than thirty years in the Marine Corp. Barbara Jean Brewster b. 1923 in Portland Maine and Ruth Brewster b. in 1924 in Detroit Michigan. By the time Ruth was in grade school, the family was living in California.
