Robert Jayne

 

         Patchogue, L.I., December 5 Robert Jayne one of the oldest residents of Patchogue and at one time one of the largest property owners or the village, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mortimer Bayles, on Main Street on Tuesday, after an illness of fourteen months, resulting from a broken hip and broken arm. Mr. Jayne was born at Middle Island, and was in his 79^th year, and had lived in Patchogue most of his life. During the civil war he was a member of the Ninth New York Calvary. His surviving children are Mrs. George Moody of South Adley Falls Mass. Mrs. Lenoroy Raynor, Mrs. John E. Skinner, Mrs. Silas Baldwin of New Haven Conn., And Mrs. Bayles of Patchogue. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon.
